Polaroids with my Portsmouth people
30th of January I started my one month Spring Festival break, and I immediately flew back to England to see N. and my friends again. After five months in China it was incredibly nice to walk the well-known streets of Portsmouth again.
The flight was 15 hours but it seemed a lot longer. I could not sleep at all, I got sick from the plane food, and it was generally bad. I actually missed my plane from Hong Kong to London because my flight from Wuhan was over an hour delayed. Luckily another plane to London was leaving only an hour later so by the time I landed in Hong Kong, a member of airport staff was already waiting for me to get me onto the other plane. So thankful there was a seat for me on that plane. If not I would have been forced to wait 6 hours in Hong Kong in the middle of the night! I have once and for all learned that having a 2 hour layover anywhere in China is too short. Any delays and you will miss your connecting flight. And sadly delays are a daily occurrence over here.
I’m finally in Portsmouth, the city I’ll be staying in for the next few years of my life to do my bachelor degree! Last night it took us three hours with the train from London to get here. We had to change trains twice in Reading and in Guildford (or something like that), but I didn’t really mind at all. More England to see!
